Molang Kindness Club: Celebrating self-confidence with Melva

Molang Kindness Club: Celebrating self-confidence with Melva

“If you can't love yourself, how are you gonna love somebody else?"
Don’t you agree with RuPinco? 🧡

In this new episode of Kindness Club, Piu Piu realizes that their appearance doesn't match up to what people see on social networks. They convince themselves to change and do some weight training to achieve the “ideal” physique. Fortunately, Melva, their special guest, is there to shatter toxic beauty standards and celebrate TRUE self-acceptance! 💅🏻

Together, our two Youtubers explore the importance of self-acceptance and learn that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes (like our plushes)! 💖

Why is it so hard to have self-confidence?

You're not born with a sense of self-confidence. It's something we learn and cultivate, more or less easily, throughout our lives. It can also be transmitted through education or our surroundings.

Lack of self-confidence can stem from a lack of representation of different bodies in the media, particularly on networks. When most bodies correspond to a predefined norm (being muscular or thin, for example), and our bodies are different, then this creates complexes. Like Piu Piu, faced with videos of muscular bodies that are often adored, they feel sad and think that they too must become muscular.

On the Internet, we see an avalanche of content focused on the cult of appearance, perfection, and seduction. This abundance of content can lead us to compare ourselves to others, and to think that others are better than we are. We feel devalued and lose self-confidence.

This culture of the ideal physique on the networks often gives way to body shaming, hatred and even cyberbullying. These comments can be devastating for your self-confidence, and lead to real unhappiness.

Finally, self-confidence also means giving up on the “ideal” body imposed by society. Changing one's physical appearance to please others rather than oneself is not a solution.

Learning to love yourself to better love others

To feel better about yourself and improve your self-esteem, it's important to identify and understand your own insecurities. For example, Piu Piu believes that to meet today's beauty standards, you have to be tall, good-looking and muscular. Molang explains that these beauty standards are defined by our society and change with the times. So we need to step back from these diktats and bear in mind that all body types exist and deserve respect

To make progress in self-confidence, society needs to evolve, as do attitudes. By representing all types of appearance and bodies in the media, everyone can identify with them and feel included. It's one of the best ways to learn to love and accept yourself better, while deconstructing beauty standards.

Finally, there's nothing like friends and family to boost self-confidence. Surround yourself with caring people with whom you feel comfortable and secure, people who value and encourage you on a daily basis.

Melva's tips for boosting self-confidence

Molang parody of Scooby-Doo

  • Self-confidence is a long road to travel, but be patient and you'll get there!!! (Does my hair still look good???) 😅
  • Your looks don't define your worth, even with the perfect outfit 💖
  • You can be beautiful no matter what, especially if you wear glasses 😎
  • You don't need a filter to feel better about yourself, embrace your natural beauty (isn't that Piu Piu???) ✨
  • Don't compare yourself to others, there's no ideal weight or perfect figure, just be yourself ❤️ Just like our cute toys and Molang kawaii plushes

Where can I find help to look after my mental health?

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by our emotions and can't get our heads above water. If this is the case, it's important to act quickly.

If you or a Pinco needs help, first talk to those closest to you, whether family or friends, as their help can be invaluable.  But sometimes the help of those close to us isn't enough.

Piu Piu as a doctor

In this case, it's just as important to turn to medical professionals such as a psychologist or General Practioner.
